Roads

I know now
why your feet never touched the same roads as mine,
why you didn’t carry the weight of my leaving.

Your dreams were never bound to these skies,
they soared elsewhere,
anchored to places I couldn’t follow,
while I chased horizons that were never yours.

It was not your dream to walk beside me,
to trace the same lines across the earth,
and in the silence between our worlds,
I find peace.

We are both where we belong,
you, in the life you chose,
and me, still searching
for the way back home.
