The start of a new year feels like a reset, doesn’t it? Everything ahead feels open, unwritten, like there’s time to figure it all out. But if I’ve learned anything from looking back on the last year, it’s that time rarely works the way we expect it to.
Time doesn’t wait for us to feel ready. It moves forward quietly, reshaping everything in its path. Change doesn’t always show up as some big, dramatic event—more often, it’s the little things: a friendship that slowly fades, a new habit you pick up without even thinking about it, or a decision that seemed minor at the time but ends up altering your direction.
When I reflect on the past year, I see those small shifts everywhere. The hard choices I made, the surprises I didn’t plan for, the moments of growth that didn’t feel like growth when they happened. Some of those changes were good. Others, I’m still figuring out how to make peace with.
But that’s what’s so fascinating about time. Even when it’s unsettling, even when you feel like you’re not moving at all, it’s quietly shaping you. Every day, every moment, it’s building you into someone new. And by the time a whole year has passed, you look back and see just how far you’ve come—even if it didn’t feel that way in the moment.
So, as we step into this new year, I’m trying to carry that thought with me. That every little shift and every unexpected turn is leading somewhere. That time isn’t just passing us by—it’s giving us the space to grow into the people we’re meant to be. Here’s to embracing that growth, one moment at a time, and trusting that this year will redefine us in ways we can’t yet imagine.
